You are loved... a lot!

oops... this isn an earlier one... first diaper change at home.
a la daddy. =)
here's looking at you, kid
so tiny!
your Great Memaw loves you so!
snoozing with Daddy... precious

Oh sweet Claudia, we are all so in love with you. You are just so tiny and sweet, we can't get enough of you. Although you can't lift your little head, you keep your eyes shut most of the time and barely make a peep (unless your hungry or upset... then watch out!), we are absolutely smitten. As you can see, we all just sit around and stare at you ... all. day. long.

No Stroller Ride for CC!

get me out of the carrier!
I. Am. Mad!!
slightly calmed down after the "stroller epidsode"

After getting you home, you tend to do a lot of sleeping, eating and pooping. And those things make you happy. But, your silly mother and father thought it would be a great idea to take you for a stroller ride one afternoon after Daddy Ruh got home from work. Needless to say, you did NOT want to go on a stroller ride. You wanted to chill on Daddy's lap. So, we did not take a stroller ride. Sorry, C-bop. We'll ask first next time. =)

Splish,Splash... CC's First Bath

looking very cozy ... pre bath
getting dried off, finally!
my petrified little water baby
oh, its horrible!

Here we are giving Claudia her first bath. Oh what an experience! Because she still has her little stump from her umbilical chord hanging around, a warm little sponge bath was necessary. Despite our attempts to make it as comfortable as possible... our little sweetie did not enjoy this first bath. We're pretty sure she hated it. It was, without a doubt, one of the most nerve wracking things... trying to keep a slippery and wriggledly 6 lb baby happy. We all sighed a big sigh of relief when we were done!

Claudia, you have company!

Daddy & Greatmemaw with the bop
Aunt Mandi... one of your very first visiters
Rachel was so excited to see your little face
Bonnie and Spano came all the way from Shreveport
Gram andGrandpa... they come to visit you lots!
Aunt Debbie telling you how beautiful you are
because you slimpy are gorgeous!
Great Memaw also drove in from Shreveport!

Since the time we brought you home, you have had many visiters and admirers stopping by for visits and sending you flowers and other goodies. Everyone is so amazed at what beautiful eye lashes you have. That was the very first thing I noticed about you when you were born... those beautiful lashes. The consensus among your visiters is that you are the most beautiful baby ever and that you are very loved!

First Checkup.... ever!

getting the bop out of her cozy carrier for the checkup

Two days after we got you home, we took you for your first checkup with Dr. Ho. You were perfect as could be and had already regained your birth weight. It's pretty common that most babies lose a little weight after they are born. It's tough living life on the outside! You were doing just great and did not make a peep. We are so thankful to have a happy and healthy little baby!

Welcome home, Claudia!

Claudia all swaddled up & ready to go home!
oh dear, the first attack of carseatitis was not good
rolling out of the hospital
Daddy & Claudia sharing a special moment
relaxing at home... in her mittens!
hello Claudia, I'm your Mommy!
the most beautiful sight I've ever seen

I cannot tell you what a huge relief it was to finally get our angel home from the hospital. The hospital is just no fun when your baby is at Texas Children's Hospital and you are stuck in the maternity ward at St. Luke's, still stuck with IVs & toting around various bags of fluids. When we picked you up from Texas Children's, we were so happy that they finally took off all the wires and IVs... but unfortunately, they had neglected to give you your Hepatitus Vaccination... so we had to witness that. The nurses in the NICU had nick-named you "the tea kettle", because you had a very high pitched distress call. This would be the first time we would hear your distress call and it was not so cool. Once you calmed back down, I dressed you in your little white homecoming outfit, swaddled you up, and got you ready for your ride home.
Once we got home, a sense of relief washed over us because we knew that our little family was safe. We got you feed, changed your diaper, then stared out you for the next 48 hours straight. It is so good to have you home, sweet baby girl!

Welcome to the World, Claudia

the first picture of beautiful Claudia Christine McLendon

After nine long months of anxious anticipation... Claudia Christine McLendon arrived on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11:56 pm, weighing 6 lbs, 13 oz and measuring 19 3/4 inches. Our precious Claudia was born nine days early (to my delight!) at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas. It was a very, very long day, but when Claudia finally made her appearance, there was not a dry eye. Proud Daddy Russell cut the chord (left handed!) and, because our sweetie had to be taken to the neonatal intensive care unit at Texas Children's Hospital, Daddy also gave her her first feeding and diaper change while I was recovering. What a great Daddy! Your grandparents, Gram & Grandpa and Grandaddy and Mama Kate were all there for the excitement. You were so tiny and precious. I have never seen a more beautiful newborn. In one word you were ... perfect. We have never been filled with more love. Welcome to the world, Claudia. We love you!
